ObjectiveFunctional magnetic resonance imaging fMRI)was used to study the brain regional homogeneity changes of resting state in patients with refractory depression before and after the course of electroconvulsive therapy, and to analyze the correlation between changes in depressive symptoms and functional changes in brain regions,so as to explore the neuroimaging mechanism of electroconvulsive effects on depression.MethodsCollection 11 cases used the fourth Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder(DSM-4)diagnostic criteria for diagnosis of patients with treatment-resistant depression disorder(case group)and 15 cases of healthy subjects(control group),statistics general demographic information, evaluation cases before and after the electroconvulsive therapy treatment group and control group at baseline of Hamilton depressive scale(HAMD),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),and calculate the case group of points rate scale.Functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI)data of resting state were collected before and after the Electroconvulsive Therapy in the case group and at the baseline in the control group.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the ReHo values in different brain areas before and after electroconvulsive treatment and the subtraction rates of HAMD and HAMA scales.ResultReHo values of right superior prefrontal gyrus and middle occipital lobe increased, while those of left inferior frontal gyrus triangle, left middle temporal gyrus, left insula and right superior inferior parietal lobule margin decreased in patients with treatment resistant depression after electroshock treatment compared with those before treatment, the difference was statistically significant(Alphaism adjusted P < 0.05 and the voxel range k > 25).The increased ReHo value in the left inferior frontal triangle was negatively correlated with the HAMD score reduction rate(r=-0.714,P=0.014),and the increased ReHo value in the right inferior parietal lobular margin was negatively correlated with the HAMD score reduction rate(r=-0.608,P=0.047).However,there was no significant difference in brain areas ofpatients with refractory depression after the treatment of electroconvulsive therapy compared with the control group.ConclusionIn patients with treatment resistant depression, regional homogeneity of multiple brain regions changed before and after the course of electroconvulsive therapy in resting state, among which higher activation in the left inferior frontal triangle and the right inferior parietal limbus was associated with depressive symptoms.
