Objective: To investigate the effects and its safety of ozone injection combined with pulsed radiofrequency in dorsal root ganglion under CT guidance in the treatment of elderly patients with postherpetic neuralgia(PHN),and effects on serum TNF-? and IL-6 Levels,in order to provide a reference for the treatment of PHN.Methods: According to the random number table,Seventy-five patients with PHN were divided into three groups: A,B and C(n=25 in each group),aged 65 to 75 years old.Under CT guidance, group A was treated with ozone injection therapy, group B was treated with pulse radiofrequency therapy, and group C was treated with ozone injection combined with radiofrequency, people were received 10 mg morphine for bursting pain.Visual analogue scale(VAS)scores was recorded on the time points of one day before treatment(T0),three days(T1),seven days(T2),thirty days(T3)and ninety days(T4)after treatment.Depression self-rating scale(SDS)scores and anxiety self-rating scale(SAS)scores were recorded on the time points of one day before treatment and thirty days after treatment. The levels of serum TNF-? and IL-6 were measured one day before and seven days after the treatment. The consumption of morphine was recorded on the time points of the first week, the fourth week, the eighth week and the twelfth week after treatment.Serious complications were observed after treatment. Results: The VAS scores of all groups at 3d,7d,30 d and 90 d after treatments were lower than before, and the C group was significantly lower than A and B groups at 7d,30 d and 90 d after treatments(P<0.05).Compared with A and B groups, the consumption of morphine in the first week, the 4th week, the 8th week and the 12 th week after treatment was significantly lower in the C group(P<0.05).The SAS and SDS scores of all groups were lower than before and there was no difference among them(P>0.05).The levels of serum TNF-? and IL-6 decreased seven days after treatment in all groups, and the C group decreased significantly compared with A and B groups(P<0.05).Serious complications, such as pneumothorax, spinal cord injury, hematoma and infection, were not be founded in three groups after treatments. Conclusion: Ozone injection combined with pulsed radiofrequency in dorsal root ganglion under CT guidance in the treatment of elderly patients with PHN has definite clinical effects, which can alleviate the pain symptoms, reduce the amount of pain medication, promote the balance of inflammatory factors, and significantly improve the anxiety and depressive symptoms caused by long-term pain.
