| Objective To observe the curative effect of pulsed radiofrequency combined with nerve block in the treatment of eyelid postherpetic neuralgia(PHN).Methods Eighty-one patients with eyelid herpes zoster in the first hospital of zhangjiagang city were randomly divided into three groups from January of 2011 to August of 2014. 27 cases in Group A were treated with intravenous infusion of acyclovir and dexamethasone. In Group B, 27 cases were treated with compound betamethasone supraorbital nerve block on the basis of intravenous infusion of acyclovir. 27 patients in Group C were treated with pulsed radiofrequency for nerve block along with the intravenous infusion of acyclovir. The visual analogue scale(VAS), clinical therapeutic effect and complications among the three groups before treatment and 1, 7, 30, 90 d after treatment were compared.Results The VAS of patients in Group A before treatment and 1, 7, 30, 90 d after treatment were(8.2±1.5),(7.3±1.6),(6.5±1.4),(6.1±1.1) and(5.9±0.7). The VAS of patients in Group B before treatment and 1, 7, 30, 90d1after1treatment1were(8.2±1.3),(6.3±1.1),(5.7±0.9),(5.1±1.1) and(4.1±0.7). The VAS of patients in1Group1C1before1treatment1and11,17,130, 90d1after1 treatment were(8.1±1.5),(2.1±0.7),(2.2±0.8),(2.9±0.7) and(2.7±0.8). Although the VAS of 30 d and 90 d after treatment was unstable, patients in Group C relieved more quickly than the control groups. The VAS of 1, 7, 30, 90 d after treatment of the three groups was statistically significant(F=10.320, 5.207, 2.364, 2.805; P<0.05). Not only of the lower incidence rate of severe complications such as corneal hypoesthesia, the patients of Group C could also reduce the possibility of keratitis and corneal ulcer.Conclusion Pulsed radiofrequency combined with nerve block could rapidly relieve the pain of PHN, and reduce the occurrence of complications. It may be a safe and effective method for treating eyelid postherpetic neuralgia. |
