Purpose: To explore the relationship between type 2 diabetes(T2D)and lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer patients. Methods: A case-control study was conducted on 1,624 patients with colorectal cancer.Result: Among all subjects,208 were T2 D patients and 1,416 were non-diabetic patients. There were 96 cases of lymph node metastasis(46.15%)in T2 D patients and 542 cases(38.28%)in non-diabetic patients(P=0.03).Compared to the non-diabetic group, the lymph node metastasis rate(48.68%)of the > 2-year group was higher than that of the non-diabetic group(38.28%)(P=0.013).There were 1,231 patients with T3 and T4,including 157 patients with T2 D,88 patients with lymph node metastasis(56.05%)amog the T2 D patients, and 1,074 patients without T2 D,479 patients with lymph node metastasis(44.60%)amog the patients without T2D(P=0.007).The lymph node metastasis rate of T2 D patients in stage T3-T4 was significantly higher than that of T2 D patients in stage T1-T2(P<0.05).Conclusions: The rate of lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer patients with T2 D is higher than those without T2 D.
