Objective: The objective was to compare the short-term efficacy of Salter and Pemberton osteotomy in the treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH),and to explore the ideal DDH pelvic osteotomy method,so as to provide reference for clinical treatment. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 94 children with DDH(113 hips)in our hospital from October 2012 to October 2015.The age of patients was between 18 to 60(33.14±11.04)months;All the patients were treated with one-stage open reduction of the hip joint, shortening rotatable osteotomy of the proximal femur and pelvic osteotomy.According to the different methods of pelvic osteotomy, the patients were divided into two groups: Salter innominate osteotomy group(59 hip),and Pemberton osteotomy group(54 hips).Acetabular index(AI),center-edge angle of Wiberg(CEA),acetabular depth ratio(ADR),Severin's scoring and avascular necrosis(AVN)were compared between the two groups. Results: All patients were followed up for 14 to 62(33.7±11.8)months.At the last follow-up,there were no statistical differences in AI,CEA,ADR,Severin ratings or AVN between the two groups(P > 0.05),but postoperative graft bone resorption was significantly higher in Pemberton group than in Salter group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Salter innominate osteotomy or Pemberton osteotomy combined with open reduction of hip joint? shortening of proximal femur and rotary osteotomy are effective methods for the treatment of DDH children aged from 1.5 to 5 years old,but Pemberton osteotomy is prone to graft bone resorption, and Salter innominate osteotomy is more simple,so Salter innominate osteotomy can be the preferred method of pelvic osteotomy for this age group.
