Meta-Analysis Of Acupuncture And Moxibustion In The Treatment Of Limb Spasm After Stroke

Objective:Meta-analysis on the safety and efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of poststroke limb spasm.Methods:we searched Pubmed,Embase,Chochrane Library,Chinese biomedical literature database,Wanfang Data knowledge online service platform,China Journal Full-text Database using acupuncture,stroke and spasm as subject terms and using pharmacopuncture,Strokes,Cerebrovascular Accident,Cerebrovascular Accidents,CVA(Cerebrovascular Accident),Spasms,Muscle Spasm,Muscle Spasms,Spasm,Muscle,Spasms and Muscle as free terms.We searched these databases from its establishment to December two thousand and eighteen.Two researchers screened the retrieved literature according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.Read the full text,extract and analyze the data.Risk assessment of the final study literature was performed using the RevMan5.3bias risk assessment method and the quality grading system was used.Results:6 articles involving 594 objects of study were included.The meta analysis results showed that: The experimental group which using the acupuncture therapy shows better effect than the the control group whithout using the acupuncture therapy in motor function,assessment of daily living ability,muscle tone of affected limb and limb spasm score.The results are described below:(1)The motor function:[95%;CI(1.33,1.85);Z= 11.94,p< 0.00001];(2)assessment of daily living ability:[95%;CI(1.28,1.78);Z= 12.17,p< 0.00001];(3)Total effective rate of muscle tone improvement in affected limb:[95 %;CI(1.80,9.94);Z= 3.30,p=0.0010];Conclusion:Acupuncture therapy is effective in the treatment of limb spasm after stroke.
