A Meta-Analysis Of Curative Effect Of TCM In Combination Therapy For Cachexia Cancer

Objective: To systematically assess the clinical effect of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in combination therapy for cachexia cancer,providing further evidence-based analyses on the practice of Chinese medicine in cachexia cancer.Methods: Retrieving literature on the RCT of TCM intervention in cachexia cancer included in CNKI,Wanfang Date,VIP,CBM and Pubmed Database,from 1998 to Oct.10,2018.The keywords are cachexia,carcinoma,with the secondary retrieval sub keywords like TCM,RCT,Chinese medical herb,Chinese patent drug and so on.The included literature is evaluated by the Jadad scale according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,and the data of incidence bodymass,food-intake,quality of life(KPS),TCM Symptom Integral and Labo ratory inspection indicators are extracted.The data are analyzed by meta with Review Manager 5.3 software.Results: This research includes 23 articles about TCM to Combination ther apy for cachexia cancer syndrome.In the bodymass,RR=1.21,95%CI:[1.13,1.30],Z=5.16,P<0.00001;In the food-intake,RR=1.22,95%CI:[1.14,1.30],Z=5.79,P<0.00001;of quality of life,RR=1.41,95%CI:[1.30,1.53],Z=8.11,P<0.00001,WMD=5.43,95%CI:[3.88,6.99],Z=6.85,P<0.00001 In the TCM Symptom Integral,RR=1.66,95%CI:[1.34,2.06],Z=4.62,P<0.00001;In the albumin WMD=1.68,95%CI:[1.32,2.04],Z=9.18,P<0.00001;In the Prealbumin,WMD=20.12,95%CI:[16.92,23.32],Z=12.33,P<0.00001.These results suggest that TCM has a positive effect on bodymass,food-intake,quality of life(KPS),TCM Symptom Integral?albumin and prealbumin impr ovement in patients with cancer cachexia.And sensitivity analysis also shows that the meta-analysis results of body mass,food intake,KPS score,TCM symptom score,albumin and prealbumin are stable and reliable.Conclusion: TCM in combination therapy for cachexia cancer has an evident clinical effect.It is suggested that more rigorous randomized controlled trials should be designed for clinical study of TCM in the future.
