ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to observe the clinical effect of short needling at lumbar Jiaji points and open-closed draining method on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation(LDH),and to summarize a simple, easy, effective and experimental superior treatment method.MethodsThis subject is a randomized controlled trial(RCT)study.72 LDH patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into control group and treatment group,36 cases in each group. The former was treated by routine acupuncture, while the latter was treated by short needling at lumbar Jiaji points on the basis of the control group and combined with open-closed draining method. The two groups were treated once every other day, three times a week, two days rest, one week as a course of treatment,a total of three courses of treatment. Before treatment, after three courses of treatment, and one month after the end of treatment, the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)were used to evaluate the clinical effect.Results(1)Baseline results showed that there were no significant differences in age, sex, weight, course of disease, prominent position,JOA and VAS scores before treatment between the control group and the treatment group(P> 0.05).(2)The clinical efficacy study found that the JOA Lower Back Pain Assessment Scale score in the treatment group and the control group after treatment wassignificantly higher than that before treatment(P < 0.05),and the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P < 0.05).(3)The clinical efficacy study found that the VAS visual analogue score of low back pain in the treatment group and the control group after treatment was significantly lower than that before treatment(P < 0.05),and the treatment group was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05).(4)One month after the end of the course,JOA scale score and VAS visual analogue score were better in the treatment group than in the control group.Conclusions:(1)Short needling combined with open-closed draining method at Jiaji point in lumbar region combined with conventional acupuncture is effective in improving symptoms, signs and dysfunction of LDH,but the treatment group is superior to the conventional acupuncture group in terms of the recovery rate and comparison between groups, and its long-term effect is also superior to the conventional acupuncture group.(2)Short needling at Jiaji point at waist combined with open-closed draining method combined with conventional acupuncture can improve the curative effect of LDH,without obvious side effects, with fewer adverse reactions and better safety.
