Objective:To analyze the brain function of patients with sepsis in Intensive Care Unit(ICU)by using amplitude integrated electroencephalogram(aEEG)to investigate the predictive value of aEEG in the short-term prognosis of patients with sepsis. The acute physiology and chronic health scoreII(APACHEII),glasgow coma score(GCS),compare the advantages and disadvantages of the three assessment methods. Methods: This study lasted for 1 year(December 2017-December 2018)and collected72 patients with sepsis admitted to our hospital. There were 48 patients who met the inclusion criteria, including 28 males and 20 females;the oldest was 87 years old,the youngest was 26 years old,the average age was(56.21±13.6),the aEEG monitoring time was at least 30 minutes, and APACHEII and GCS were performed within 24 hours.Logistic regression was used to analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of patients, and the receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was used to evaluate the predictive mortality and neurological prognosis of the three assessment methods.Results:(1)The evaluation results of the three evaluation methods for surviving patients and death patients showed that the surviving patients scored better than the dead patients;the three evaluation methods for patients with good neurological prognosis and poor outcomes showed good neurological prognosis. The scores were superior to those with poor prognosis.(2)Logistic regression analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between aEEG and the survival of patients with sepsis, but it was significantly correlated with the neurological prognosis of patients with sepsis.(3)Through the ROC and the area under thereceiver operating characteristic curve(AU-ROC)shows that the three evaluation methods have a certain predictive value for mortality in patients with sepsis. The sensitivity and specificity of aEEG are highest among the three methods.Among them,aEEG and APACHEII are the best judgment methods, and there is no significant difference in judgment efficiency;the three evaluation methods have certain predictive value for poor neurological prognosis in patients with sepsis,aEEG has low sensitivity and high specificity. There were no significant differences in the efficacy of the three assessment methods in determining neurological prognosis. Conclusion:aEEG has a good predictive ability for neurological prognosis in patients with severe medical sepsis, and has no significant difference with traditional APACHEII and GCS judgment. It is an objective and applicable method for assessing and monitoring brain function status. The use and outcome interpretation steps are simple and easy,so the neurological prognosis of ICU sepsis patients can be predicted based on the aEEG score.
