Objective:To compare postoperative blood loss with or without drainage after cementless total hip arthroplasty for the treatment of femoral neck fractures.Methods:134 patients with femoral neck fracture who underwent biotype total hip arthroplasty from October 1,2016 to August 30,2018 were divided into different groups according to the drainage method.44 patients, including 26 males and 18 females, with a mean age of(70.68±5.40)years old, were performed without drainage method.52 patients, including 27 males and 25 females, with a mean age of(70.38±6.47)years old, were performed with suction drainage method.38 patients including 15 males and 23 females, with a mean age of(71.29±6.46)years old, were performed with ordinary drainage method. The amount of total blood loss, and hemoglobin change were compared in two comparations. The one is between group without drainage and group with suction drainage, the other is between group without drainage and group with ordinary drainage. Results:Total blood loss and the change of hemoglobin of group without drainage were fewer than that of group with suction drainage all the time, and that of group withordinary drainage 3 days after operation.Statistical differences were not abserved in total blood loss between the group without drainage and the group with ordinary drainage the day after operation. However, the change of hemoglobin of the group without drainage were fewer than that of the group with ordinary drainage at the same time. Conclusion:The total blood loss and the change of hemoglobin of the group without drainage were fewer than groups with drainage. It is suggested that there is no need to use a drainage routinely to reduce total blood loss and the change of hemoglobin and to avoid transfusion related complication related after cementless total hip arthroplasty for the treatment of femoral neck fractures.
