Objective:As a method of forensic identification, wrinkle type is of great significance in oral forensic science. This study is based on a three-dimensional digital model to analyze the relationship between wrinkle type and gender, blood type correlation, explore the various morphological characteristics of wrinkles in adult males and females, and assess the existence of wrinkle asymmetry and wrinkle between different genders. The relationship between blood types to determine the significance of wrinkle type in oral forensic identification. In addition, the use of logistic regression explores the possibility of using the wrinkle length and shape to identify gender. Methods:A total of 120 students,60 males and 60 females were selected from Shanxi Medical University. All subjects belonged to a similar age group, aged between 18 and30 years. The three-dimensional digital model of the maxillary was acquired by 3shape to grayscale the image. The model was analyzed by 3shape software,as well as the length and shape of the wrinkles, while the blood type of each subject was recorded. The model was drawn and measured by the same inspector, and the resulting data was entered into a spreadsheet computer program(Microsoft Excel 2007)and then exported to the statistical software SPSS 21.0 for analysis. For all tests, the p value was set to?0.05.Count the total number of wrinkles based on the classification and record the percentage. To explore gender differences, the Mann-Whintney rank sum test, also known as the rank sum test, was used to assess the association between wrinkle length and gender because it does not require a hypothetical normal distribution and applies an unpaired t test.Correlation between wrinkle and gender and correlation between wrinkle and blood type were analyzed using chi-square test, and Wilcoxon signed rank test(Wilcoxon signed rank test)was used to assess bilateral differences in wrinkles.Logistic regression analysis was used to assess the likelihood of using a discrete variable(shape)and a continuous variable(length)for gender prediction. Results:The distribution of different wrinkles in the total number of people, the most wavy, linear, and curved, and the lack of convergent and non-specific.Compared with women, men have more wrinkles, men are mainly wavy, while women are mainly linear. The number of wrinkles on the right side is more than on the left side. The main thing is that the main wrinkles and the most common shapes are mainly wavy, curved and straight in the two sexes. In addition, there was no significant difference in the number of wrinkles in different lengths of different gender groups(P>0.05).However,gender dimorphism was dominated by main wrinkles in the length of wrinkles, and there were significant differences in shape between waves and rings.Significant asymmetry in the male wrinkles was observed in the wavy and linear and separated wrinkles, and there was no significant asymmetry in the wrinkles in women. The linear shape was significantly different in the A and AB populations(X~2=3.980,P=0.046),and the AB type was more common than the A type. Conclusion:The study provides reference data on the shape of rugaes in the Shanxi region. The rugae shape has gender dimorphism and can be used for the identification of oral forensic identity.Rugaes have unique and hereditary, and it is also important in the forensic medicine to use rugae morphology together with ABO blood type for identity recognition.Applying the digital model is more accurate and advantageous for rugae-type forensic identification than by using traditional methods.
