Objective:To investigate the effect of Zhuanggu Qiangjin tablet(ZGQJT)on bone fusion, spinal cord function recovery and pain relief after anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion(ACCF).Methods:According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,76 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy(CSM)underwent anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion(ACCF)between October 1,2016 and October 1,2018 were selected.According to the random number method,76 cases were divided into experimental group and control group,38 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with ACCF,the same post-operative treatment and continuous wearing of protective devices to protect the neck.On the basis of the control group, the experimental group began to take the Zhuanggu Qiangjin tablet after operation, and continued to take it for three months after operation.Bone graft fusion score,NDI index,JOA score,VAS pain score and complications were followed up and compared between the two groups.SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used for data analysis,t-test was used for comparison of measurement data,Chi-square test was used for comparison of counting data, statistical anal ysis of variance for repeated measurements, and P<0.05 was the significant difference.Results:(1)There were 26 males and 12 females in the experimental group and 25 males and 13 females in the control group. The average age of the experimental group was 56.57±9.64 and the average age of the control group was 51.68±12.25.All patients were followed up for 3 to 26 months. The average follow-up time in the experimental group was 10.18±5.56 months. The average follow-up time in the control group was 11.00±6.97 months. There was no significant difference in follow-up time between the two groups.(P>0.05).(2)There was no significant difference in preoperative JOA score and preoperative VAS pain score between the two groups(P>0.05).(3)The NDI score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group before operation and 3 days after operation(P<0.05).The NDI score of 1 month,3 months after operation and the last follow-up was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).Compared with that before operation, the scores of NDI index in the experimental group decreased significantly after 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).Compared with pre-operation,the scores of NDI index in control group decreased significantly at 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).(4)Compared with the control group, there was no significant difference in JOA score between the experimental group and the control group before and 3 days after operation(P>0.05).The JOA score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group at 1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).Compared with pre-operation,JOA scores of the experimental group were significantly improved after 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).Compoared with pre-operation,the JOA scores of the control group were significantly improved after 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).(5)Compared with the control group, the VAS pain score of the experimental group had no significant difference before operation,3 days after operation and the last follow-up(P>0.05),and was significantly lower than that of the control group at 1 month and 3 months after operation(P<0.01).Compared with preoperative,VAS pain scores in experimental group decreased significantly at 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).Compared with preoperative, the VAS pain score of the control group decreased significantly after 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).(6)The Brantigan score of 76 patients was equal to or greater than 3 points at 3 months after operation. The fusion rate of the two groups was 100%at 3 months after operation.Compared with the control group, the Brantigan score of the experimental group was significantly higher at 3 months after operation than that of the control group(P<0.01).(7)Compared with the control group, the improvement rate of the experimental group increased significantly at 3 days,1 month,3 months and the last follow-up(P<0.01).(8)During the follow-up period, the internal fixator position of the two groups was stable after ACCF,and no complications such as titanium mesh displacement, plate fracture, screw loosening, bone graft absorption occurred.Three days after operation,4 patients in the experimental group had swallowing discomfort, the incidence was 10.53%,while 2 patients in the control group had swallowing discomfort, the incidence was 5.26%,which could be alleviated after symptomatic treatment.Conslusion:Compared with pure ACCF,the use of Zhuanggu Qiangjin tablet after operation can promote bone healing, improve spinal cord function and relieve neck acidity and malaise, which is worthy of clinical application.
