Objective: to evaluate the curative effect of tympanic membrane catheterization in the treatment of secretory otitis media by balloon dilatation of eustachian tube. Methods: 32 cases(41 ears) with secretory otitis media were randomly divided into two groups: 16 cases(21 ears) were treated with eustachian tube balloon dilatation and tympanic membrane tube insertion.Control group: 16 cases(20 ears) received tympanic membrane tube insertion. The indexes were as follows: 7 items of eustachian tube dysfunction scale(Eustachian tubedysfunction questionnaire-7,ETDQ-7),mean air-bone conductance difference(ABG),)acoustic impedance, otoendoscopy, thin layer temporal bone CT scan. Results: one month after operation, the scores of 7 questionnaires(ETDQ-7) of eustachian tube dysfunction in the experimental group and the control group were significantly lower than those before operation(t = 35.204,P < 0.000;t = 26.932,P =0.000).The scores of 7 questionnaires(ETDQ-7) of eustachian tube dysfunction in the experimental group 6 months after operation and 8 months after operation were lower than those in the control group(t =-36.298,P = 0.000;t =-20.512 P = 0.000).Test group and control group 1 month after operation The average air-bone conductance difference was significantly lower than that before operation(t = 31.725,P = 0.000 t = 14.146 Pu 0.000).At 6 and 8months after operation, the effective rate of treatment in the trial group(100%) was significantly higher than that in the control group(80%,75%,)(P < 0.05).Conclusion: the clinical effect of eustachian tube balloon dilatation combined with tympanic membrane tube insertion for secretory otitis media is better than that of tympanic tube insertion for chronic secretory otitis media.
