| OBJECTIVE: By collecting domestic and foreign literatures and extracting data, this study conducted a meta-analysis on the efficacy of intramedullary nail therapy and plate therapy for humeral shaft fractures, providing medical workers engaged in clinical practice with better evidence-based medical advice and help in selecting treatment methods.Data preparation and methods: Literature search was conducted using literature databases including Pumed,Wanang full text database,CNKI,VIP full text database and Cochrane Library to search for articles related to the treatment of humeral shaft fractures with plate internal fixation and intramedullary nail.English retrieval will "plate","Intramedullary nail","humeral shaft fracture" joint as keywords or keyword. In Chinese search,"plate","intramedullary nail" and "humeral shaft fracture" were selected as the key words or keywords.Use Review Manager 5.3 to perform a meta-analysis of the data required for the articles searched.RESULTS: This meta-analysis screened a total of 8 Chinese and foreign articles and 362 patients with humeral shaft fractures, among which 179 were treated with plate internal fixation and 183 with intramedullary nail internal fixation. The comparison between plate fixation and intramedullary nailing revealed that the incidence of deep wound infection and surface infection, delayed fracture healing and nonunion, and radial nerve palsy were similar. In the treatment of humeral shaft fractures, plate internal fixation has the advantages of less postoperative shoulder and elbow joint dysfunction and fewer iatrogenic fractures. The intramedullary nail internal fixation group has the advantages of shorter operation time and less bleeding in the treatment of humeral shaft fractures.CONCLUSIONS: According to the searched articles, this meta-analysis revealed that compared with intramedullary nail internal fixation, plate internal fixation has the advantages of less postoperative shoulder and elbow joint dysfunction and fewer iatrogenic fractures in the treatment of humeral shaft fractures.Compared with the plate internal fixation group, the intramedullary nail internal fixation group has the advantages of shorter operation time and less bleeding in the treatment of humeral shaft fracture. |
