Objectives(1)This research aims to analyze the levels of uncertainty of illness of the family members of patients with cirrhosis through a questionnaire survey.(2)To study the intervention effect of the therapeutic communication system on the uncertainty of the family members of cirrhosis patients.MethodsUsing a convenient sampling method, the 60 families of patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were divided into a control group and an intervention group(30 patients for each group)using a method of simple randomization. On the day of admission,60 casesof family members were surveyed for the general demographic data and the uncertainty of illness questionnaire.Control group: Use routine health education.Intervention group:Intervene with therapeutic communication system. The two groups of intervention time are seven days The control group and the intervention group were again investigated on the seventh day of hospitalization to determine the levelsof illness uncertainty. Finally, the data were collected and statistical analysis was performed.Results(1)Through investigation and research,we found that the general demographic data, disease uncertainty, and comparison of scores in each dimension showed no statistical difference between these two groups of family members(P>0.05).The baseline was comparable;the overall scoreof family members' illness uncertainty was in the range of 50-97.The overall score was 78.00±10.699,andthe average score of entries is 3.12±0.427.(2)The degrees of the scoresof the familymemberillness uncertainty dimension wereunpredictable, ambiguous, lacking clarification, and lack of information.Among them, the unpredictability and ambiguity dimension scores are higher thanthe overall item scores of illness uncertainty mood.Entry 21 scored the highest in 25 entries.(3)There was a statistically significant difference in the overall level of uncertainty of the disease, the uncertainty dimension, and the lack of clarification dimensions between the two groups of family members(P<0.05).But the unpredictability dimension and the lack of information dimension were not statistically different(P>0.05).(4)For the uncertainty of the disease before and after intervention in the intervention group, the scores of each dimension were compared, and the results showed a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(5)For the comparison between the uncertainty of the disease before and after the intervention of the control group, the scores of each dimension showed that the overall level of disease uncertainty, the uncertainty dimension, the lack of information dimension, and the unpredictable dimension were statistically different(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in the lack of clarification dimension(P>0.05).Conclusion(1)The degree of uncertainty of illness among the family members of cirrhosis patients is at high level.(2)The therapeutic communication system can reduce the uncertainty of illness of the family members of cirrhosis patients.(3)The therapeutic communication system is superior to conventional health education in interfering with the overall level of uncertainty of the disease, the dimensions of ambiguity, and the lack of clarification dimensions.
