Application Of Quality Control Circle In Health Education For Families Of Children With HFMD

Objectives To improve the awareness of hand-foot-mouth disease(HFMD)for the families,to prevent the disease,and to evaluate the effect of quality control circle on health education and the team cooperation,this study applied the quality control circle(QCC)in the health education for the families of children with HFMD.Methods 230 families of pediatric with HFMD treated in the unit(A hospital in Wuhan)from April to September in 2018 were selected as subjects.In addition,230 questionnaires were issued for investigation and analysis,so as to find out the current situation and existing problems of hand-foot-mouth disease education.After the QCC began,125 cases were randomly divided into control group and experimental group.The experimental group carried out the QCC intervention after admission in 1~4 days.Ten-steps method,(which included grasping the theme selected,activity planning,current conditions,goal setting,analysis,counter measures formulation,strategy implementation and effect of inspection,verification,review and improvement and standardization.)was used to develop the intervention of health education.Brainstorming method used to determine the significance of emblem and circle.The tools such as Fishbone diagram and histogram were applied for thinking about the best method of health education.The control group was treated in the regular nursing health education.At the end phase,the cognitive status of HFMD healthy education and the personal quality score of the ringers were collected through the self-made questionnaire,and the part assigned to the score was used to evaluate the effect of the intervention experiment.The result of comparison between two groups was used as the evaluation criterion for the activity effect of quality control circle.Results(1)The overall knowledge level of the families about HFMD questionnaire score was 50.60 ± 2.40,which was the baseline.Admission questionnaire survey(pre-intervention survey): the questionnaire score of the control group was 50.2±1.96,and which of the experimental group was 50.9±1.94,there was not statistically significant(p>0.05)between two groups.(2)Discharge questionnaire survey(after intervention): for the basic knowledge of HFMD,the average scores of the questionnaires of the control group were 10±3.2 while the experimental group 17.3 ± 3.3.The average scores for the route of HFMD transmission were 10.6±2.3 in control group and 16.2±2.1 in experimental group.The average scores for the knowledge of HFMD prevention were 13±3.4 in control group and 22±2.6 in experimental group.For the professional knowledge of HFMD,the average scores were 20 ± 2.6 in control group and 33.6 ± 2.4in experimental group.The total average score of the control group was 53.6±2.1,while which of the experimental group was 87.1±3.1.The scores of each part in the experimental group were higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).(3)HFMD awareness rate was significantly higher in the experimental group after intervention than before intervention.(4)Quality control circle activities have improved QCC professional knowledge,teamwork ability,communication and coordination ability,quality control techniques,enthusiasm to different degrees,especially nursing staff's mastery of this method.(5)In this test the family members of the experimental group and the control group showed significant differences in the scores of satisfaction with nursing work,patients' satisfaction with understanding of the condition,health guidance and holistic nursing during hospitalization.Among them,the score of "satisfaction with health guidance" is the highest.Conclusions The nursing health education by quality control circle can effectively raise the knowledge of the families on the HFMD prevention,and reduce the incidence of HFMD in children.
