Objective:By observing the effects of salvianolic acid for injection on the level of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),the integral changes of TCM syndromes and the number of TIA attacks in patients with transient ischemic attack(TIA)caused by carotid atherosclerosis with unstable plaque, the efficacy, safety and possibility of salvianolic acid for injection in the treatment of TIA attacks were discussed the mechanism of action. Methods:Sixty patients with transient ischemic attack(syndrome of blood stasis and internal obstruction)who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with routine western medicine combined with salvianolic acid for injection, while the latter was treated with routine western medicine for 14 days.Matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)and TCM syndrome score were observed before and after treatment. The number of TIA attacks and cases of cerebral infarction were observed during treatment.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in sex,age and ABCD2 score between the treatment group and the control group(P > 0.05).There was no significant difference in MMP-9,TCM syndrome score and TIA attack frequency between the two groups before treatment.(2)There was a significant difference in the number of TIA episodes between the treatment group and the control group(P < 0.05).The therapeutic effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group.(3)There was no significant difference in the number of cerebral infarction cases between the treatment group and the control group during the treatment period and 3 months follow-up(P > 0.05).(4)Matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9)level comparison: before and after treatment in the group, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).There was significant difference between the two groups after treatment(P < 0.05).It is suggested that both groups can inhibit inflammation, and the treatment group is better than the control group.(5)Comparison of clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine: There were significant differences in scores before and after treatment between the two groups(P < 0.05),suggesting that both groups can improve the symptoms of patients. The effective rate of the treatment group was 90.00%,the total effective rate was 93.33%,and that of the control group was 60.00%,the total effective rate was 86.67%.The curative effect of the treatmentgroup was better than that of the control group. It is suggested that Salvia miltiorrhiza polyphenolic acid combined with routine western medicine is superior to routine western medicine alone in the treatment of transient ischemic attack(syndrome of blood stasis and internal obstruction).(6)There were no adverse reactions and no abnormal safety tests in the two groups during the treatment. Conclusion:Salvia miltiorrhiza polyphenolic acid for injection can reduce the level of transient ischemic attack(MMP-9),reduce the number of TIA attacks, and improve the clinical symptoms. The therapeutic effect of the treatment group is better than that of the control group.Salvia miltiorrhiza polyphenolic acid for injection is safe and effective in the treatment of TIA(syndrome of blood stasis and internal obstruction)with no toxic side effects.
