Objective:To detect the expression level of MFAP5 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)primary and metastatic focuses.and analyze its relationship with clinicopathological factors. To explore the role and correlation of Microfibrillar-associated Protein 5(MFAP5)in the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods:1.10 nasopharyngeal normal tissue specimens were selected as negative control group,10 nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissue specimens(non-metastasis),6 nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissue specimens(with metastasis)and 8 nasopharyngeal carcinoma metastasis focuses were taken as research objects.2.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression and localization of MFAP5 in normal tissues and nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues.Results:1.The expression of MFAP5 in primary nasopharyngeal carcinoma was higher than that in normal nasopharyngeal mucosa(P<0.05).2.By comparing the positive expression of MFAP5 between non-metastatic and metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma focuses,it was found that the difference of MFAP5 expression between them was also significant(P<0.05).3.Compared with normal nasopharyngeal mucosa, the expression of MFAP5 in metastatic tissue of nasopharyngeal carcinoma was also significantly different(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The expression of MFAP5 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma with metastasis was higher than that in non-metastasis.There was a positive correlation between MFAP5 and the occurrence and metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.2.MFAP5 is highly expressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and significantly higher than that in normal nasalpharyngeal mucosa.MFAP5 maybe be used as one of the potential indicators of tumorigenesis.
