Objective To investigate the changes of anterior chamber morphology in early postoperative period after the correction of medium or high myopia by small-incision lenticule extraction(SMILE).Methods Retrospective study.Sixty-three patients(110 eyes)with medium or high myopia,which had received the treatment of SMILE,were selected.Examinations took place preoperatively and postoperatively at 1 day,1 week and 1,3 months,including uncorrected visual acuity,best corrected visual acuity,spherical equivalent and parameters obtained by Pentacam Scheimpflug system,such as posterior corneal keratometric power,central anterior chamber depth,anterior chamber volume,anterior chamber Angle.Single factor repeated measures analysis of variance was used to compare the same indices measured at different time points.Results Postoperative 1 day and 3 months: uncorrected visual acuity,best corrected visual acuity,spherical equivalent,safety index(postoperative bestcorrected visual acuity/preoperative best corrected visual acuity)and effective index(postoperative uncorrected visual acuity/preoperative best corrected visual acuity)were 1.07±0.14,1.07±0.18,-(0.03±0.31)D,1.05±0.18,1.06±0.14;1.24±0.16,1.26±0.17,-(0.06±0.17)D,1.24±0.17,1.22±0.16.Postoperatively at1 day,1 week and 1,3 months: There was no significant difference between before and after surgery in posterior corneal curvature,central anterior chamber depth,anterior chamber volume,anterior chamber Angle(F:0.16,0.56,1.05,0.32;P>0.05).Conclusions There was no significant changes in anterior chamber morphology in early postoperative period after the correction of medium or high myopia by SMILE and the visual acuity recovered quickly,which means SMILE is a relatively safe and effective corneal refractive surgery.
