Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of glycine powder airpolishing as a non-surgical periodontal treatment for patients with chronic periodontitis and to provide guidance for clinical treatment of chronic periodontitis.Methods:1.Patients with chronic periodontitis were enrolled according to the inclusion criteria, with a total of 31 patients(14 males and 17 females). From May 2018 to October 2018,they selected the Department of Periodontology of the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University.Cases were selected according to the diagnostic criteria for chronic periodontitis. The patients were subjected to a self-controlled experiment of left and right half, and non-periodontal surgery was performed at the site of probing depth ? 4 mm at the site of Scaling and root planing+ glycine powder air-polishing(experimental group)and Scaling and root planing +air flushing and water(control group).2.The clinical probing depth, bleeding index, gingival crevicular fluid volume and interleukin-6 concentration in the gingival crevicular fluid were measured before treatment and 1 month after treatment. Results:There were 31 patients in the two groups,283 teeth(137 in the control group and 146 in the experimental group). There was no statistically significant statistical significance of periodontal clinical parameters and gingival crevicular fluid parameters between the control group and the control group.(P>0.05);After 1 month of treatment, overall, the periodontal status of all patients showed a significant improvement after treatment. The depth of probing(PD)of the experimental group decreased from 5.39±1.67 mm to 3.73±1.48 mm.The bleeding index(BI)decreasedfrom 3.30±0.80 to 1.88±1.10,but no statistically significant difference was found between the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05).The volume of gingival crevicular fluid in the experimental group decreased from(0.684±0.072?L)to(0.180±0.043?L)at 1 month after treatment, and there was statistically significant difference(P=0.013,P<0.05).The level of interleukin-6 in gingival crevicular fluid decreased from(5.07±0.54ng/mL)to(2.15±0.70ng/mL)after treatment, but there was no statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The periodontal status of patients after adjuvant treatment with glycine powder air-polishing showed significant improvement after treatment.2.The level of IL-6 after treatment of chronic periodontitis with glycine powder air-polishing was significantly decreased, but there was no statistical difference with the control group.3.Glycine powder air-polishing as an auxiliary means of non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease, the amount of gingival crevicular fluid decreased more than the control group after treatment, which may contribute to the improvement of periodontal inflammation in a short period of time.
