OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of visual function training combined with tropicamide eye drops and that of tropicamide eye drops alone on the accommodation function of eye of adolescents with primary myopia.METHODS:60 cases(120 eyes)of adolescent with primary onset of myopia who were diagnosed and treated at the Pediatric Ophthalmology Clinic of Shangrao Aier Eye Hospital from January 2017 to June 2018 were selected, including 35 females(70eyes)and 25 males(50 eyes). The patients were randomized into two groups, group A with 30 patients(60 eyes),including 13 males and 17 females.Their age ranged from 8 to 13 years old,the average age was(11.23±1.21)years old;and group B with30 patients(60 eyes),including 12 males and 18 females, their age ranged from 8 to13 years old,the average age was(11.15±1.77)years old; There was no significant difference in age, gender, habit of using eye and diopter between the two groups(P>0.05).Group A was treated with visual functional training(alphabet, lens reading, sensitivity regulation training, convergence & divergence ball)combined with tropicamide eye drops(dropped to both eyes by 0.1 ml each night before sleep).Group B was only treated with tropicamide eye drops(dropped to both eyes by 0.1 ml each night before sleep); The patients were tested for their PRA,BCC,AMR accommodation sensitivity and naked eye vision after 8 weeks of treatment.RESULTS:After being treated with visual function training combined with tropicamide eye drops for 8 weeks, the positive relative accommodation, right eye accommodation range, left eye accommodation range, accommodation reaction, right eye accommodation facility, left eye accommodation facility, both eye accommodation facility and naked eye vision of the subjects in Group A were respectively improved from(-1.88±0.60),(11.81±5.09),(12.3±5.07),(0.36±0.56),(4.86±3.67),(4.3±3.65),(5.3±4.04),(4.56±0.45)before treatment to(-2.70±0.51),(17.6±5.8),(18.03±5.67),(-1.16±0.24),(11.53±4.62),(12.1±4.86),(12.067±4.47),(4.98±0.68)after treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).However,the accommodation function of subjects in the group B who were treated with tropicamide alone was not improved significantly. No significant difference was noted before and after treatment(P> 0.05).Conclusion:The visual function training combined with tropicamide eye drops can better improve the eye accommodation function of adolescents than tropicamide eye drops alone, thus providing a more effective measure of treatment and diagnosis for prevention and control of myopia and delaying its development..
