Objective:To explore the value of ultrasound(US)and US-guided core needle biopsy in the diagnosis of abdominal masses in pediatric patients. Methods :The US images data and abdominal Computed tomography(CT)and the pathological results of 168 pediatric patients with abdominal masses in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from June 2014 to March 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The diagnostic criterion were surgical and pathological results, the pathological diagnosis and final surgical pathological diagnosis were compared, the influencing factors of the success rate and pathological accuracy rate and the false negative rate were analyzed, and the clinical diagnose value of US US-guided core needle biopsy was explored.Results:(1)The source of tumor was detected by US examination, and the accurate diagnostic rate was 72.62%(122/168),the tumor localization and physical properties were identified in 46 of the 168 cases(27.38%,46/168)by US examination.(2)The success rate of material drawing was 95.83%(161/168),the pathological accuracy rate was 90.48%(152/168),the falsenegative rate was 5.36%(9/168).(3)The physical properties of tumors had statistically significant effect n the success rate of puncture and pathological accuracy of US-guided core needle biopsy.Conclusion:(1)US can contribute to judgment the source of abdominal masses in pediatric patients.(2)Ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy can clarify the classification and nature of the tumor, and is valuable for the diagnostic of abdominal mass in pediatric patients.(3)The pathological changes and physical properties of the mass were the main factors affecting the success rate of the puncture biopsy and the pathological diagnosis rate of the mass.Preoperative evaluation of the nature of abdominal mass lesions and selection of puncture site combined with US examination can improving the success rate and pathological accuracy of puncture sampling and reduce false negative.
