ObjectivesTo form intervention programs for patients with mild and moderate OSAS based on Protective Motivation Theory; To evaluate the effect of the scheme on self-management,symptoms of nocturnal apnea, sleep quality and quality of life of patients with mild and moderate OSAS.MethodsThis study is a sqasi-experiment study.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, patients diagnosed with mild to moderate OSAS in the department of respiratory medicine and the sleep monitoring room of the department of neurology in an upper first-class hospital in Zhengzhou were selected as the research objects. The first 36 cases were included in the control group, and the last 36 cases were included in the experimental group. The control group carried out routine health education measures, and the experimental group applied group education and group training based on Protective Motivation Theory on the basis of routine health education. The two groups were evaluated before intervention,1 month after intervention and 3 months after intervention, respectively. The evaluation tools were body measurement indexes, daytime sleepiness scale,PSG monitoring results,OSAS self-management behavior questionnaire, oropharyngeal training implementation list and OSAS quality of life questionnaire.IBM SPSS statistics 20.0 software was used for statistical analysis.ResultsA total of 70 subjects were included in this study, including 35 cases in the experimental group and 35 cases in the control group. The research results are as follows:(1)After 3 months of intervention, the mean cervical circumference of patients in the experimental group decreased from(37.80±1.91)cm to(36.37±2.60)cm.The body weight was reduced from(78.61±4.46)kg to(75.02±4.97)kg.BMI was reduced from the original(27.80+2.61)kg/m~2 to(23.91±3.60)kg/m~2.Compared with the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the apnea hypopnea index in the experimental group decreased from the original(20.51±2.76)times/h to(17.96 3.18)times/h.The minimum blood saturation at night increased from(70.56±3.16)%to(81.6±3.69)%.ESS sleepiness score decreased from(14.54±1.63)to(8.12±3.11).Compared with the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)After 3 months of intervention, the mean score of the total self-management behavior of patients in the experimental group increased from the original(71.35±7.28)to(77.45±8.58).The quality of life score increased from(3.87±0.28)to(4.99±0.23).Compared with the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)Intervention based on Protective Motivation Theory can reduce the neck circumference of patients with mild and moderate OSAS,reduce the body weight and BMI of patients, improve the self-management level of patients with mild and moderate OSAS,and improve the sleep quality, daytime sleepiness and life quality of patients with mild and moderate OSAS.(2)In this study, the intervention contents of patients with mild and moderate OSAS guided by Protective Motivation Theory are practical, acceptable and effective for patients, which is suitable for clinical and community promotion.
