Background: POMAL patients in different regions show different etiology and clinical characteristics, but few relevant domestic clinical studies have been conducted in China. This single-center study retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of POAML patients.Method: In this study conducted from January 2009 to December 2019 at the first affiliated hospital of Guangxi medical university, the relationship between progression-free survival and factors that may be associated with prognosis in clinical features, examination results and treatment regimens mentioned in previous studies was analyzed. Results: Among 56 patients with newly diagnosed POAML in study, the sex ratio was 1.15(female: male = 30:26).Average age was 56.8±11.603 years old, monocular morbidity was 71.4%,and the most commonly affected sites were orbital(69.6%)and lacrimal gland(16.1%).There were 46(82.1%)patients in Ann Arbor IE stage,Ann Arbor II stage, and 5(8.9%)in Ann Arbor IV stage. The 5-year overall survival rate(OS,overall survival)and 5-year PFS rate(progress free survival)were 100% and 84.0%,respectively.Univariate analysis suggested that being CD5 positive(p=0.009),CD43 positive(p=0.001),both CD5 and CD43 positive(p=0.001)and the absence of chemoradiotherapy(p=0.032)might be related to shorter PFS,while gender(p=0.715),being over 60 years old(p=0.606),lacrimal gland invasion(p=0.093)and extraorbital invasion(p=0.148)were not related to PFS.Cox regression results suggested that chemoradiotherapy [HR 0.133(95% CI,0.023-0.780)],no extraorbital invasion [HR 0.05(0.008-0.313)],both of CD5 and CD43 were positive [HR 7.215(1.493-34.878)] were independent risk factor of POAML.Conclusion: The overall prognosis of POAML is good.Intraorbital limitation,chemoradiotherapy,CD5 and CD43 positive are independent prognostic factors.CD5 and CD43 positive may indicate shorter PFS,and patients using thalidomide alone has no significant advantage in PFS compared with untreated ones.
