Objective: 1)To study the phytochemical constituents of n-butanol fraction of Lavandula angustifolia Mill.residue which has been previously removed essential oil.2)Study on the biological activity of all isolated compounds from.Lavandula angustifolia Mill.Methods: 1)Isolation and purification were performed by silica gel chromotography,sephadex LH-20,ODS chromatography,flash chromatography,HPLC and semi-preparative HPLC.2)The chemical structures of those isolated co mpounds were identified by spectroscopic techniques(1D,2D-NMR,HR-ESI-MS,UV).3)Anti-oxidant and hypoglycemic activities of all isolated compounds were e valuated.Results: 1)22 compounds,including 10 phenylpropanoids(two new com pounds 1,2),10 flavonoids,and 2 other types of compounds,were isolated and id entified from L.angustifolia Mill.by using a variety of modern chemical separatio n and analysis methods.Their structures were identified as 4,4?dimethoxy-2,2?diO-?-D-glucopyranosyl-truxinate(1),2-(?-D-glucosyloxy)-trans-cinnamicacid butyl est er(2),2-(?-(1-2)-glucosyloxy)-cis-cinnamic acid butyl ester(3),rosmarinic acid(4),methylrosmarinate(5),2-O-?-D-glucosyloxy-4-methoxybenzenepropanoic acid(6),tr ans-2-?-D-glucopyranosyloxy-4-methoxycinamic acid(7),trans-melilotoside(8),cis-m elilotoside(9),trans-4-hydroxycinnamic acid(10),luteolin-4?-O-?-D-glucopyranosidur onic acid(11),luteolin-4?-O-?-D-(6??-methyl)-glucopyranosiduronic acid(12),luteolin-7-O-?-D-glucuronopyranoside(13),luteolin-7-O-?-D-(6??-methyl)-glucuronopyranoside(14),luteolin 7-O-?-D-Glucopyranosiduronic acid(15),apigenin-7-O-?-D-glucronide(16),apigenin-7-O-?-D-(6??-methyl)-glucronide(17),apigenin-7-O-?-D-glucopyranosidu ronic acid,5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-7yl,ehtyl ester(18),apigenin-7-O-?-D-glucopyranosiduronic acid,5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-7yl,ehtyl ester(19),luteolin(20),(7S,8R)-urolignoside(21),and salicylic acid(22).2)Anti-oxidant and anti-hypoglycemic activities of all isolated c ompounds were evaluated.As a result,compounds 4,5,11,13 and 14 showed str ong anti-oxidant activities against DPPH.Compounds 5,13,18 and 19 exhibited good inhibitory activities against PTP1 B.Conclusion: Compounds 3,9,11,12,15,16,18,19,20,21 and 22 were isolated from this plant for the first time.The new compound 1 was established to be a rare dimeric cycloadduct of 4,4?-dimethoxy-2,2?-di-O-?-D-glucopyranosyl-truxinate.This survey enriched the chemical constituents of L.angustifolia Mill.2)Through the active screening of those isolated compoun ds,it provided an important basis for the further study on the structure-activity rel ationship of L.angustifolia Mill,and provided the scientific basis for the research and development of this plant.
