Purpose:Inquiring the clinical effect of conventional electro acupuncture at "inducing resuscitation four Acupuncture points "(Baihui,Shenmen,Neiguan and Hegu four points)on the improvement of cognitive recovery after general anesthesia in our hospitalMethod:A total of 110 elderly patients(greater than 60 years)undergoing general anesthesia underwent(ASA)grade ? to ?)were randomly divided into the control group and the acupuncture group, each group of 55 cases.According to the subject requirements,Acupuncture group needs to be electro-acupuncture at Shenmen,Baihui,Neiguan.Hegu four points on the day after the recovery of general anesthesia surgery and 5 days more afterwards, while at the same time, the control group only needs to be stimulated the skin around the acupuncture point with elector-acupuncture.To collect the information of the patients in general, duration of surgery, bleeding, pain changes, etc.,what's more,to assess the improvement of postoperative cognitive dysfunction through comparing the data(cognitive function indicators,VAS,FAQ and MMSE)collected on the day 1,day 3,day 5 after the surgery and the day before the surgery between two groups.Statistical analysis was only performed on the factors with statistical significance collected from the difference between groupsResults:There were no significant differences in preoperative cognitive function.VAS score.FAQ and MMSE scores between the two groups(P>0.05).On the first day after operation, the cognitive function index,FAQ and MMSE scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those before operation(P<0.05).VAS score was significantly higher, but no difference. On the third day after operation, the MMSE score of the control group was still significantly lower than it was before operation(P<0.05),but for the acupuncture group, there was no significant difference comparing with its preoperative MMSE score(P>0.05).On the third day after operation, the FAQ of the control group was still higher than it was before the operation(P<0.05).while the control group higher than the electro acupuncture group(P<0.05=),VAS score acupuncture group was significantly lower. On the 5th day after operation, the cognitive function index,VAS score,FAQ and MMSE score of acupuncture group were significantly improved compared with the control group(P<0.05),and the incidence of POCD was significantly lower than that of the control group though it was not back to preoperative level yet. Conclusion:Postoperative electro acupuncture at Baihui,Shenmen,Neiguan,Hegu four points.after general anesthesiacan, effectively reduce the incidence of POCD in elderly patients.while reducing pain and other illness. The program significantly shortens the time cost of postoperative recovery. It plays a positive role in promoting early postoperative functional exercise and reducing complications as well.
