Objective: The value of epicardial fat thickness between two nationalities was compared to the early detection of atherosclerosis and the correlation with coronar y heart disease was discussed.Methods:87 patients with standard cases(60 Han and27 Uygur)were divided into coronary artery disease group and non coronary hear t disease group according to coronary angiography. There was no significant differe nce in age,sex and ethnicity between the two groups.By measuring the thickness of epicardial fat between two nationalities,we found the difference between them and whether it can be used as an index for risk stratification and prognosis analy sis of coronary heart disease. The results of coronary angiography, echocardiograph y,epicardial fat thickness, laboratory test index and general data were recorded in two groups, and data were collected and analyzed statistically. Results: the thickness of epicardial fat in the coronary heart disease group was significantly higher than that in the non coronary heart disease group(8.26 + 1.14 mm vs.5.68 + 1.28 mm,P < 0.01).The thickness of epicardial fat was positively correlated with the risk factors of coronary heart disease, body mass index, ethnicity and age(r=0.655,r=0.392,r=0.496,P < 0.05).Conclusion: epicardial fat can be used as an early predict or of cardiovascular disease. There is a difference in the thickness of epicardial fat between different nationalities. With the increase of the thickness of epicardial fat, atherosclerosis is caused by the increase of the thickness of the epicardial fat,and the degree of coronary stenosis can be increased.
