Objective:To study VEGF and SOX2 protein expression level, and the and affiliation with clinicopathological parameters in squamous cell lung carcinoma, and preliminarily discussing the effects of VEGF and SOX2 on metastasis and prognosis of lung squamous cell carcinoma(SCC).Methods:The protein expressions of VEGF and SOX2 were measured by Immunohistochemistry from 47 cases of pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma and 30 cases of para-carcinoma specimen.Using statistical methods to research two protein expression discrepancy, the relevance with clinical pathological characteristics and prognosis. Results:The positive expression rates of VEGF,SOX2 in SCC tissues were higher than adjacent normal tissues. There was a statistically significant correlation between VEGF and SOX2 expression.VEGF and SOX2 expression was associated with lymphatic metastasis, later TNM stage and tumor differentiation respectively.Survival analysis results manifested that VEGF and SOX2 common expression patients had the worst prognosis.Furthermore, tumor size and lymph node metastasis may be independent prognostic factors for SCC.Conclusions:In patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma, high expression of VEGF may promoted lymph node metastasis and predicted a higher clinical stage, high expression of SOX2 may also promoted lymph node metastasis and indicated worse differentiation.Furthermore, high expression of both VEGF and SOX2 may indicated a worse prognosis.
