The Cognitive Situation Of Emergency Airway Management Through Cricothyroid Membrane:A Survey Of Medical Staff In Emergency Department

Objective:To investigate the cognition about emergency airway management through cricothyroid membrane of medical staff in emergency department.Methods:This study is a cross-sectional investigative study.Medical staffs in emergency department meet inclusion and exclusion criteria are investigated from March 19 to 21,2018.A questionnaire,composed of general information and the cognition about emergency airway management through cricothyroid membrane of medical staffs in emergency department,was designed to investigate through the website first and then investigate through network.Compare the difference of the general information and the cognition about emergency airway management through cricothyroid membrane between the medical staffs by Chi-square,Bonferroni method,McNemar test.Use multiple Logistic regression analysis to analyze the possible factors which influence the difference between medical staff cognitive status.Results:Finally,a total of 948 questionnaires meet inclusion and exclusion criteria and included in the analysis.There are 640 doctors and 308 nurses participate in the survery,their ratio is 67.51%:32.49%.528 are males,420 are females,the proportion of them is 55.70%:44.30%.There are 353 Junior title staffs,357 intermediate and 238 senior title staffs,the ratio is 37.24%:37.66%:25.11%.Most of the medical staffs in emergency department are familiar with emergency airway management through cricothyroid membrane.The results of the multiple regression analysis show that nurses.work less than 5 years?non-third Class A Level hospital are the risk factors for cognitive familiarity.EICU and non-third Class A Level hospital are usually not equipped with the thyrocricoid puncture ventilation/thyrocricocentesis cannulation equipment.A few medical staffs find it is difficult to master the technology,most of these staffs are nurses,women,emergency room staffs,work less than 15 years?non-third Class A Level hospital medical staffs.Most of the medical staffs,especially the doctors have a will to carry out the thyrocricoid puncture ventilation/thyrocricocentesis cannulation technology in the future,and have confidence to master it.Conclusion:Most of the medical staffs in emergency department are familiar with emergency airway management through cricothyroid membrane in the scope of this research.However,they are lack of clinical experience.Therefore,the related training contains the theory simulation and skills is needed in urgent to improve their professional technical ability.
