After nearly 40 years of development,private hospitals have gained recognition from society and the public for their flexible management methods and efficient medical service quality.With the further improvement of people's living standards and the further strengthening of national policy support,it is a key issue in China's economy,society and life to explore how private hospitals hybridize under multiple institutional logics.Although the existing research has tested the blending strategy practice and hybrid organization at the organizational level,it often limits the level of institutional complexity to binary logic,and does not analyze the dynamic course of how the organizations realize hybridization from the perspective of evolution.There also does not clearly reveal the "black box" of the organization's strategy response.At the same time,although previous studies have clarified that there are different multi-institutional logic states within the organization,there is a lack of in-depth discussion of the evolutionary relationships between different institutional logic states.Therefore,this paper adopts the exploratory vertical single case research method,based on the theory of multiple institutional logic,with Yiwu Fuyuan Private Hospital running in the cross-field of multiple institutional logics such as market logic,community logic and professional logic as the case study object.It focuses on the process strategy and response mechanism of hybrid strategy and the hybrid state and evolution of internal multi-institutional logics at the organizational level of private hospitals,and deeply understands the evolution relationship between the external multi-institutional logic pressure,the process strategy practice,and the internal multi-institutional logic hybrid state.It also reveals the process path and overall model of organizational hybridization under multiple institutional logics.This paper mainly draws the following three conclusions:First,the process strategy and response mechanism of organizational hybrid strategy under the multi-institutional logic framework.In the context of multiple institutional logics,the "ambiguous strategy-differentiated strategy-formalized collaborative strategy-integrated strategy" was adopted as the process strategies of hybrid strategy.This paper constructs four hybrid process strategies from the perspective of the coupling of different institutional logics with goals and means,and these four hybrid process strategies are responsed to the pressures of the organization's external multi-institutional logic and the conflict caused by internal multi-institutional logic hybrid state.The process strategic responses have effectively alleviated the external pressures and internal conflicts faced by the organization and continuously promoted the logical hybrid of organizations to achieve stability.Second,the hybrid state of multiple institutional logic within the organization and its evolution.The organization presents four heterogeneous multiple institutional logic hybrid state of "dominant state-competitive state—coopetitive state—aligned state".This paper follows the two dimensions proposed by Besharov and Smith(2014)and extends its connotation,from compatibility(the degree of common understanding of organizational strategic objectives and operational priorities among different institutional logic members within the organization)and centrality(the number of different institutional logics in the core operation of the organization)deconstructs the four different multi-institutional logic hybrid states of organization and the internal conflicts it forms.The hybrid state of multiple institutional logic in organization is the result of the organization's adoption of strategy to instantiate multiple institutional logic.They are not completely independent.The hybrid state of multiple institutional logic at this stage depends on the previous logic hybrid state,and further promoted by the specific strategic behavior of the present,so the organization presents different and evolving multi-institutional logic hybrid state.Third,the process path and overall model of organizational hybridization under the framework of multiple institutional logic.Based on the external multi-institutional logic pressure,hybrid process strategy,multi-institutional logic hybrid state and the relationship between them in each stage of the organization,this paper summarizes the process path of organizational hybridization under the framework of multiple institutional logic from the perspective of evolution.That is,"the external institutional pressure of the current period + the conflict of the internal institutional in the early period ? the hybrid process strategy of the current period?the hybrid state of the internal multiple institutional logic in the current period",which indicates that the relationship of the hybrid strategic behavior and the multi-institutional logic hybrid state within the organization are not one-way effects but two-way.It reveals the evolutionary relationship between the external multi-institutional logic pressure,the organizational hybrid process strategy practice,and the multiple logic hybrid states within the organization,then forms the overall process model of organizational hybridization.The innovations of this paper are as follows:Firstly,it discusses the hybrid process of ternary institutional logic at the organizational level,and constructs the connotation of ternary institutional logic through data analysis,breaks the research limitations of dual institutional logic,and enriches the theory of multiple institutional logic.Secondly,it summarizes the process path of organizational hybridization under the framework of multiple institutional logic,uncovers the "black box" of the antecedent of strategic response,enriches the research on organizational strategic response under the framework of multiple institutional logic;Thirdly,it expounds the different hybrid states of the multi-institutional logic at the organizational level and its evolution process,responds to and expands the research of Besharov and Smith(2014)and further answers the dynamic evolution of the relationship of different institution logics at the organizational level.Fourth,from the evolutionary perspective explores the process model of multiple institutional logic to achieve a stable hybridization at the organizational level,and makes up for the shortcomings of previous studies to explore hybrid organizational or blending strategies from a static perspective,injecting fresh blood into existing hybrid research.
