Objective: to compare the efficacy of pulse radio frequency modulation combined with antidepressant(amitriptyline hydrochloride)and pulse radio frequency alone in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia, and to explore the short-term and l ong-term efficacy and safety of combined therapy for primary trigeminal neuralgia. Methods:According to the diagnostic criteria of primary trigeminal neuralgia,73 p atients with trigeminal neuralgia were treated with pulse radiofrequency therapy co mbined with antidepressant(amitriptyline hydrochloride). In the control group,24 patients were treated with pulse radio frequency regulation alone.Visual analogue scale(VAS,visual analogue scale),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA,Hamilton Anxiet y Scale)and Hamilton Depression scale(HAMD,Hamilton Depression Scale);)wer e compared before treatment and 1 week,3 months and 6 months after treatment. The curative effect was evaluated by three scores. Results:There was no significant difference in VAS score and HAMD,HAMA score between the experimental grou p and the control group 1 week after treatment(P > 0.05),while the VAS score a nd HAMD,HAMA score in the experimental group at 3 months and 6 months afte r treatment were lower than those in the control group(P < 0.05).After 6 months treatment, the effective rate was 91.6% in the test group and 87.5% in the contr ol group, the effective rate of the two groups was significantly higher than that of the control group(P > 0.05).Conclusion:Pulse radio frequency regulation combine d with antidepressant(amitriptyline hydrochloride)is safe and effective in the treat ment of primary trigeminal neuralgia. However, pulse radio frequency regulation co mbined with antidepressant(amitriptyline hydrochloride)was not superior to pulseradio frequency regulation alone in effective rate comparison.
