Comparative Analysis Of The Bonding Effect Between Er:YAG Laser And Traditional Acid Etching Resin

Objective:Through review of literature,Laser etching has controversial studies on the bonding properties of enamel and dentin.In this study,we observed the bonding situation between these two methods by clinical experiments,and discussed whether the bonding effect of laser-etching can meet clinical standards and is inclined to which view in these literatures.Methods:A total of 140 teeth of 63 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group.According to the cause,two groups were divided into cavity ?(Type A)and Wedge-shaped defect(Type B).The type A,in the experimental group,41 teeth were etched using Er:YAG laser to treat the resin bonding surface,and 46 teeth were eroded with 35% phosphoric acid.The type B,in the experimental group,22 teeth were etched using Er:YAG laser to treat the resin bonding surface,and 31 teeth were eroded with 35% phosphoric acid.Each tooth was treated with full-etching adhesive and composite resins to repair form and function.Evaluate the adhesion of composite resin restorations by the modified USPHS/Ryge evaluation system.Results:Type A,restoration of the shape of teeth,edge fitness,pulp reaction,these satisfaction rates of these groups were all 100.0%.Satisfaction rate of Repair surface was 87.8% in the experimental group and 93.5% in the control group.Satisfaction rate of Edge coloring was95.1% in the experimental group and 93.5% in the control group.Satisfaction rate of Colorcoordination was 95.1% in the experimental group and 91.4% in the control group.Satisfaction rate of secondary dental caries was 100.0% in the experimental group and97.8% in the control group.There was no significant difference between the two groups.Type B,the satisfaction rate of the four indicators,including restoration of the restoration,secondary caries,gingival inflammation,and pulp reaction,in the experimental group and the control group was 100.0%;In the experimental group,the surface condition,edge adhesion,edge coloration,and color coordination satisfaction rate were 86.4%,95.5%,95.5%,and 86.4%.The satisfaction rates of the control group were 96.8%,100.0%,100.0%,and 80.6%,respectively,and there was no statistical difference between the two groups.Conclusion:During the one-year observation period,these satisfaction rates of the experimental group(laser etching)were not significantly different from the full-etching group by the modified USPHS/Ryge evaluation system.Through this study combined with literature review,the laser etching treatment can be used in clinical practice to achieve the same clinical effects as full acid etching.
