Objective 1.To explore the inpatients' experience of caring moment and provide the practical evidence for taking targeted measures,so as to further improve the caring experience.2.To explore the perception and experience of nurses at the caring moment,in order to further explore the process of caring moment, and provide reference and basis for promoting the occurrence of caring moment and enriching Watson's Theory of Human Caring. Methods 1.In the first part, the phenomenological method of qualitative research was used to explore the perception and experience of inpatients at the caring moment. On the basis of literature research,an outline of interview with inpatients were formulated.Purposive sampling method was used to choose inpatients in a Grade A Class-three hospital in Wuhan. The sample size was determined according to the principle of data saturation, and fifteen cases were eventually enrolled. The data was collected by a semi-structured interview, and it was analyzed by the Colaizzi qualitative phenomenological analysis with the help of Nvivo10 qualitative analysis software.2.In the second part,17 nurses were participated according to the inclusion criteria and the principle of data saturation, and a face to face interview was taken out to know how the nurses perceived the caring moment. The methods of data collection and analysis were the same as the first part. Results 1.Three themes of inpatients' experience at the caring moment were extracted as follows: behavior, emotion and demand opportunity. The behavioral experience included meeting requirements, getting help timely,self-exposure,facing the disease positively, and accessing care beyond usual. The emotional experience included dependence and trust, belongingness, gratitude.Nurses came around when the patients needed.2.Six themes of nurses' experience at the caring moment were extracted as follows: the trigger of caring(nurses understood caring needs from patients' active oral notification, nurses inquired the caring needs of patients actively, nurses perceived the caring needs through other clues),measures of caring(caring decision, devoting extra time and energy, serving as relatives, emotional input, empathy, material help),the places of caring moment, the time from perceiving caring demand to caring occurrence, patients' feedback to nurses(expressing gratitude,a better attitude, emotional interaction, material feedback),nurses' feelings(pleasure, sense of achievement, promotion of humanistic quality, occupational values,).Conclusions 1.The experiences of the inpatients at the caring moment reflected the needs of caring. The nurses should be based on the true feelings of inpatients, and take targeted measures to provide high-quality humanistic services for patients,so as to further improve the caring experience.2.This study revealed that caring moment was a caring process based on interaction between nurses and patients.Compared with Watson' theory, there were similarities and uniqueness in explaining the elements of caring moment. The nurses training on caring should be carried out actively to enhance the awareness of the importance about caring moment,in order to promote the occurrence of caring moment.
