Reliability And Validity Of Chinese Version Of A Patient-centred Care Competency Scale For Hospital Nurses And Its Preliminary Application

Objective:1.To translate the English version of patient-centered care competency scale(PCCS)into Chinese,and test the reliability and validity of Chinese version of PCCS.To provide a tool which in can be used to assess the nurses' capacity about nursing in hospital or medical school.2.Using the PCCS to preliminary discusses the present situation of the capacity of nurse,and analyze the related factors influencing the presentation occurred.Methods:1.Chinese PCCS first draft was translated,back-translated and modified for cultural adaptation according to Bristin translate model after testing the content validity with a team of nursing experts,220 nurses from Class ? Grade Hospitals in Tianjin were investigated with Chinese version of PCCS to test the reliability and validity by item analysis exploratory factor analysis(EFA)and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA).2.There are 200 nurses to finish the Chinese version of PCCS,descriptive statistical method,correlation analysis,single-factor analysis,the multi-factor analysis were performed,and the related factors were fined out for the purpose of exploring the intervention strategy.Results:1.The Chinese version of PCCS contents four dimensionality,17 items : It contains Respecting patients' perspectives(RPP,seven items),Promoting patient involvement in care proceses(PPIC,four items),Providing for patient comfort(PFPC,three items),Advocating for patients(AFP,three items).2.The results of the reliability showed: Cronbach's ? of the Chinese version of PCCS was 0.963,and the test-retest reliability was 0.960,and the retest reliaability of all the four subscales were above 0.80.3.To consult six experts from PCCS and the content validity index(CVI)was 0.94.All items the content validity index was 0.786~1.4.The structure validity of PCCS indicated that: four common factor were extracted by exploratory factor analysis and explained 80.532%of the total variance.5.From the point of degree,statistical significance exists between score of four subscales and total scale since r=0.201**,P<0.01,while from the point of years of working,statistical significance exists between score of four subscales and total scale since r=0.106*,P<0.05,and for the enterprise-level,r=0.249**,P<0.01,shows the statistical significance exists between score of four subscales and total scale,on the contrary,score of four subscales and total scale of ages ?marital status and hospital departments show statistical significance.Conclusions:1.This study translate English PCCS to Chinese,and test the reliability and validity of Chinese version of PCCS.The results showed Chinese version of PCCS has good reliability and validity.The scale items concise,clear,easy to understand,convenient for nurses to understand and answer,help to understand the nurse perceptions of nursing competency and can be used to assess the nurses' capacity,to explore the nurses' willingness to touch,which would provide evidence for physical touch widely used in the field of nursing in the future.2.In the Chinese version of PCC Scale preliminary application process,Nurses' work experience is the highest in enterprise-level,followed by education,?years of working.The multi-factor analysis results showed that with the increase of nurses' working time,education,the nurses' PCC is higher,and higher post grades nurses‘ scale score is higher.
