The Application And Significance Of Inflection Point Nutrition(IPN)in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(ERAS)

Objective: To establish the standardized method of detecting the oral mucosa epithelial apoptosis rate so that “inflection point nutrition”(IPN)can be used more widely.Methods: Fifty malnourished patients were enrolled into this study and randomly divided into two groups.The oral mucosa epithelial apoptosis rate of patients in experimental group was measured by the standardized method.On the contrary,that of patients in control group was detected by non-standardized method in different aspects,such as different times,different strength.Analyze the amount of cell acquisition,the amount of cell debries and whether the Sub-G1 apoptosis peak occur or not.Results: By adopting the standardized method of detecting the oral mucosa epithelial apoptosis rate,we can acquire more cell acquisition,minimize the fluctuation of the cell acquisition and make the typical Sub-G1 apoptosis peak occur.Conclusion: By the standardized method of detecting the oral mucosa epithelial apoptosis,different people from different medical institutions can get the stable result,which can make the IPN support therapy used more widely.Objective: To investigate the effect of IPN on ERAS in patients who underwent the colectomy or rectectomy.Methods: Twenty-nine consecutive patients who would undergo colectomy or rectectomy were enrolled into this study and divided into two groups.Patients in experimental group were give IPN support therapy and patients in control group were offer nutrition support therapy according to the total daily energy expenditure.In two groups,other perioperative managements were carried out according to the request of ERAS.Recorded patients' symptoms such as weakness and vomiting.Simultaneously albumin,pre-albumin,retinoid-binding protein,transferrin and the power of gripping were measured before and 3,8 days after the operation,as well as postoperative activity time.The statistical difference was processed by using unpaired t-test and P<0.05 was considered to have significant difference.Results: The incidence of the subject symptoms such as weakness and vomiting in experimental group was less than that in control group.The difference of protein level between 3 and 8 days after the operation,the recovery of the power of gripping and the postoperative activity time from 3 to 6 days after surgery in the experimental group were superior to those in control group.The difference was significant.Conclusion: Perioperative IPN support therapy can enhanced the recovery after colectomy or rectectomy was performed.
