Objectives Through detecting the level of interleukin-4(IL-4),interleukin-17(IL-17),Interferon-gamma(IFN-?)in the serum of RSV(Respiratory syncytial virus)pneumonia(devided into wheezing group and non wheezing group)and healthy infants,to investigate the relationship between IL-4,IL-17,IFN-?and airway hyperresponsiveness induced by respitatory syncytial virus. This conclusion can be used to guide early clinical intervention, early treatment, improve the therapeutic effect and reduce the incidence of recurrent wheezing and asthma. Methods All these infants were recruited from the peadiatircs department of People's Hospital in Qingyuan from December,2016 to Noverber,2017,more than 1 mouths, less than 3 years old,not treated with glucocorticoid and antihistamines within 2 weeks yet.The infants who were caused by congenital immunodeficiency disease, congenital heart disease, tuberculosis, foreign body of trachea, airway softening and stenosis were excluded. All the infants with respiratory syncytial virus pneumonia were divited into two groups,RSV pneumonia wheezing group and RSV pneumonia non wheezing group.Another 39 infants who were in the same period of children health care department acted as control goup. The gender and age in three groups were not significantly different.Blood specimens from the wheezing and non wheezing infants with respiratory syncytial virus pneumonia, healthy infant were collected,The serum samples that were centrifugaled from the blood specimens were preservated in the refrigerator at minus 80 degrees centigrade. The levels of IL-4,IL-17,IFN-?in 31 infants with RSV pneumonia wheezing group,39 infants and with RSV pneumonia non wheezing group,39 healthy infants were detected by ELISA.Result 1.IL-4 level in infants with RSV pneumonia wheezing group(18.03±9.67pg/ml)were obviously higher than those in the non wheezing group(11.78±3.37pg/ml)and the normal control group(7.47±2.16pg/ml)(P<0.05).2.The serum concentrations of IL-17 in RSV pneumonia wheezing group(72.74±18.82pg/ml)were higher than those in the non wheezing group(47.08±11.23pg/ml)and the normal control group(33.58±7.34pg/ml)(P<0.05).3.The serum concentrations of INF-? in RSV pneumonia wheezing group(19.37±9.81pg/ml)were lower than those in the non wheezing group(40.94±12.73pg/ml)and the normal control group(56.65±11.34pg/ml)(P<0.05).4.The ratio of IFN-?/IL-4 in infants with RSV pneumonia wheezing group(1.14±0.28)were significantly lower than those in the non wheezing group(3.58±0.94)and the normal control group(7.79±0.74)(P<0.05).Conclusions 1.The level of IL-4 in wheezing infants with RSV infection was significantly higher than that in non wheezing group and normal child group,so we speculate that IL-4 participates in the process of airway hyperresponsiveness during the infection of the respiratory syncytial virus.2.The level of IL-17 in wheezing infants with RSV infection was significantly increased,it is illustrated that IL-17 might be related to airway hyperresponsiveness and airway inflammation of RSV infection.3.The level of IFN-? in wheezing infants with RSV infection was significantly lower than that in non wheezing group and normal child group,it is suggested that the inhibition of Th1 cell function was more obvious in the RSV wheezing group.4.The ratio of IFN-?/IL-4 in infants with RSV pneumonia wheezing group were significantly lower than those in the non wheezing group and the normal control group. It is showed that there was an obviouse imbalance in Th1/Th2.5.RSV pneumonia(wheezing)has abnormal immune function and Th1/Th2 imbalance, the changes of the levels of IL-4,IL-17,IFN-? maybe have a close relationship with airway hyperresponsiveness.
