Abstract:Objective:To explore the relationship between c-met protein and the clinical staging and cell differentiation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)patients. Methods:A total of 100 ESCC were enrolled in our analysis. The expression of c-met protein was detected by immunohistochemistry(IHC)assay.According to the expression of c-met,esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients were divided into c-met low expression group and c-met high expression group. The differences of patient's clinical pathological characteristics, overall survival between high group and low group were further analyzed. Results:A total of 100 ESCC including 67 male and 33 female with a median age of 59 were analyzed. There were 49 patients in the c-met positive group and 51 patients in the c-met negative group. The results showed that high expression of c-met was significantly with advanced TMN staging and lower tumor differentiation.Kaplan Meier survival curve showed survival rate of patients in c-met positive group(median:30.9 months)was significantly reduced compared with negative group(median:48.2 months).COX regression analysis showed that c-met was a independent risk factors for overall survival(HR:2.34,95%Cl:1.63-4.54,P<0.05).Conclusion:high expression of c-met protein was significantly with advanced TMN staging, lower tumor differentiation and poor prognosis, which might be serve as a valuable indicator for predicting the prognosis of ESCC.
