Objective:A preliminary understanding of the clinical manifestations, pathological features, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis related factors of central nervous system melanoma, combined with its latest developments, explores the diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system melanoma,,and raises awareness of it.Methods:A total of 10 cases of central nervous system melanoma diagnosed by pathology from The First Hospital of Jilin University from September 2008 to December 2017 were collected. The clinical characteristics, pathological and immunohistochemical features of the patients were retrospectively analyzed and the prognosis was followed up.Results:All 10 patients underwent surgical resection at The First Hospital of Jilin University, and they were discharged after being stabilized. The patients were followed up by telephone. The follow-up was terminated in January 2018.7 patients received follow-up(5 patients had intracranial lesions and 2 patients had intraspinal lesions)and 3 patients lost follow-up.The longest follow-up period was 60 months, and the shortest follow-up period was 3 months.Of the 5 patients with intracranial melanoma who were followed up,4 died. The postoperative survival time was 4 months,4 months,11 months, and 26 months respectively. One patient had survived for 4 months and was generally in good condition.Of the 2 patients with intraspinal melanoma who were followed up,1 patient died after 35 months of survival;1 patient now survived 5 years.Of the 7 patients followed up,6 did not undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy,1 patient relapsed after surgery, and multiple lesions appeared in the brain. The patient was treated with whole brain radiotherapy once and chemotherapy. The specific drug for chemotherapy is unknown.Conclusion:1.Melanoma is complicated by intracranial hemorrhage.2.The prognosis of melanoma in the central nervous system is poor.Further radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery can extend the survival of patients to some extent.
