Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy between self-expanding metal stent placement combined with laparoscopic surgery and conventional surgery in the treatment of bowel obstruction caused by left-sided colorectal cancer.Method:A total of 56 patients who were diagnosed with left-sided malignant colorectal obstruction in China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University from September 2013 to December 2017 were selected as the study objects. The average length of hospital stay, average hospitalization cost, the number of lymph node dissection, postoperative complications(such as wound infection,intra-abdominal infection, postoperative bleeding)were collected.Patients were divided into surgery group and stent group according to the operation mode selected after admission.SPSS21.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Result:(1)A total of 56 patients who were diagnosed with left-sided malignant colorectal obstruction were enrolled in this study, including 32 males(57.0%)and 24 females(43.0%),with an average age of(59.00 ± 11.19)years old.The success rate of stent placement in stent group was 100%.The clinical symptom relief rate after stent placement was 100%.(2)The average length of hospital stay in patients in the stent group was significantly shorter than that in the conventional surgery group(19.8 ± 3.00 days vs.22.45 ± 2.32 days,P <0.05).The average hospitalization cost of the stent group was less than that of the surgery group(8.07 ± 0.69)million yuan vs(9.64 ± 1.32)million yuan,P <0.05).the number of lymph node dissection was significantly more than that of the conventional surgery group(12.68 ± 2.12)vs(10.52 ± 2.35),P <0.05.There was difference in the number of lymph node dissection, the average length of hospital stay and the average hospitalization cost between between stent group and surgery group(P <0.05).(3)There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between stent group and surgery group(P> 0.05).Conclusion:(1)The average hospitalization days and hospitalization costs of patients undergoing self-expanding metal stent placement combined with laparoscopic surgery were significantly less than those of conventional surgery, while the number of lymph node dissection of patients undergoing self-expanding metal stent placement combined with laparoscopic surgery was significantly better than that of conventional surgery.(2)There was no difference in the total complication rate between self-expanding metal stent placement combined with laparoscopic surgery and conventional surgery for colorectal cancer-induced bowel obstruction.(3)This study shows that the placement of self-expanding metal stent is a safe and effective treatment for the left-sided malignant colorectal obstruction.
