Objective: To discuss the clinical value of self-expandable metal stent endoprosthesis in malignant proximal colon obstruction. Methods: From January2009to December2013,32patients of malignant proximal colon obstruction and55patients of distal colon obstruction were treated with self-expandable metal stent endoprosthesis. Technical success, clinical improvements, complications were compared between two groups.Results:25cases of malignant proximal colon obstruction and52cases of distal colon obstructions were successfully inserted metal stent. The technical success rate in two groups was78%and95%respectively. The technical success rate in proximal colon obstructions group was lower than that in distal colon obstructions group (p<0.05). Clinical improvement in two groups was100%and94.2%respectively.There was no significant differences between two groups(p>0.05). Complications in proximal colon obstructions group was lower than that in distal colon obstructions group (p<0.05).Conclusions: The placement of Self-expandable metal stent is a safe, effective and well tolerated treatment for patients with malignant colorectal obstruction, especially in malignant proximal colon obstruction. |
