Aim:To assess the recurrence rate of Hp and risk factors for recurrence through long-term follow-up after eradication of Hp and analysis of possible risk factors related to recurrence. Methods: We selected outpatients with dyspepsia or upper abdominal discomfort confirmed to have Hp infection by the 13 C urea breath test from January 2016 to March 2017 in The Affiliated Nanjing Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. All patients were treated with standard triple and quadruple regimens and 13 C urea breath test turned negative 4 to 6 weeks after discontinuation. All enrolled patients were asked to sign informed consent and fill out questionnaires, including basic personal conditions and risk factors associated with Hp recurrence.13 C urea breath test was performed at 2,6 and 12 months for free.Follow-up would terminate until the 13 C urea breath test turned positive. Results: In the study,a total of 71 patients were involved, including 30 men and 41 women, with a mean age of 48.92±12.01 years.Hp became positive in 2 patients,69 patients were still negative, and the recurrence rate was 2.82% at 2 months.Hp became positive in 5 patients,4 patients refused to follow up,60 patients were negative, and the recurrence rate was 10.07% at 6 months. No patient showed positive results,5 patients refused to follow up,55 patients were negative, and the recurrence rate was 10.07% at 12 months. The drop-out rate was 5.63% and 12.68% at 6 months and 12 months, respectively. Conclusions:In this study, recurrence rate at 2,6 and 12 months was 2.82%,10.07%,10.07%,respectively.It is more suitable that Hp eradication is confirmed at least 8 weeks after completing treatment.Univariate analysis and multivariate analysis failed to identify risk factors for Hp recurrence.
