Objective: To detect the level of serum Oncostatin M(OSM)in patients with Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),and to explore the relationship between OSM and the activity of IBD.Methods: The level of serum OSM in 36 IBD patients and 22 healthy controls was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results: Serum concentration of OSM was respectively 44.34(21.19,79.13)pg/ml,65.54(26.04,107.18)pg/ml and 58.03(53.68,77.76)pg/ml in Crohn's disease(CD)group,Ulcerative colitis(UC)group and healthy controls, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05);there was no significant difference in OSM level between IBD disease severity(P > 0.05);serum OSM level in IBD group was positively correlated with CRP(?=0.510,P=0.001),and positively correlated with ESR(?=0.416,P=0.012).Conclusion: There was no correlation between serum OSM level and disease activity in patients with IBD,but it had a positive correlation with the inflammatory markers CRP and ESR.
