Development And Advancement In Corticotomy Assisted Orthodontic Treatment

With the improvement of people's living standard and aesthetic level,more and more maloacclusion patients are willing to be treated.But the long term of the course of orthodontic treatment is one of the reasons that many patients unwilling to be treated.Therefore,accelerated the movement of orthodontic teeth and shorten the course of orthodontic treatment became a hot topic to study for many orthodontic dentists.Currently,there are three major categories of the method to accelerate the movement of orthodontic teeth:drug methods,physical methods and surgical methods.And the surgical methods could be devided into certain types.Among them,corticotomy assisted orthodontic treatment(CAOT)and periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics(PAOO)technology is more effective ways for adult ortho-dontic treatment to the previous references.The article reviews the literature and monograph of bone cortex cut in more than 100 years,summarizing the development and advancement of it in history review,mechanism and clinical application.Besides that,We summarized the advantages and disadvantages and the risk in clinical application,hoping to provide reference base for orthodontic dentist to assisted orthodontic treatment.
