A Retrospective Study Of The Efficacy And Influencing Factors Of Root Canal Therapy

Objectives:The clinical characteristics and curative effect of root canal therapy were analyzed statistically,and the key factors influencing root canal treatment were discussed in order to provide the basis for the choice of clinical treatment plan.Methods:This study was a retrospective case analysis which was carried out in the Department of VIP Dental Service,School of Stomatology,Zhengzhou University.From May 2010 to May 2016,the clinical data of the teeth treated with "pulpitis","periapical periodontitis" and "pulp necrosis" in the Department of VIP Dental Service,School of Stomatology,Zhengzhou University were collected retrospectively.By Records and statistics of key indicators,we summary and analyze the clinical characteristics of root canal therapy patients and affected teeth,to explore the curative effect of root canal therapy,and use logistics regression analysis to analyze the related factors that may affect the root canal treatment effect(P < 0.05).Results:1.A total of 322 patients with 533 affected teeth were included in the study.130 Of them were male(40.4%)with 221 teeth(41.5%)and 192(59.6%)were women with 312 teeth(58.5%).2.Curative effect: the success rate of root canal therapy was 90.4% and the failure rate was 9.6%,among which 31 teeth were removed after operation,3 teeth were treated with root apex operation and 17 teeth were retreated.At present,402 teeth still had normal function,and the rate of tooth preservation was 94.2%.3.Univariate analysis showed: the curative effect of 15 factors such as tooth type,the presence of cracked tooth,pain nature,duration of symptoms,fistula,apreoperative swelling,periodontal bag,pre-operative absence of periapical radiolucency,the diagnose,the number of root canals,the status of root canals and apical points,the types of endodontic drugs,the filling materials,the filling paste,and the quality of root canal filling on root canal therapy were statistically significant(P < 0.05).4.The results of multivariate analysis showed that the type of tooth,the presence of cracked tooth,periodontal bag,the status of root canals and apical points,and the type of endodontic drugs were closely related to the curative effect of root canal therapy(P < 0.05),which may be the critical factors influencing the curative effect of root canal therapy.Conclusions:1.Root canal therapy is an effective method for the treatment of pulp disease and periapical disease.2.The type of teeth,the presence of cracked teeth,periodontal bags,the status of root canals and apical points,and the type of endodontic drugs may be closely related to the critical factors influencing the curative effect of root canal therapy.3.There are many factors that affect the curative effect of root canal therapy.In clinical treatment,we should pay attention to the situation of patients and teeth,and review regularly in order to get good curative effect.
