Objective:to evaluate the clinical curative effect and assess influence factors on survival time of patients with advanced esophageal cancer after stent implantation. Methods:data of 103 patients with advanced esophageal cancer who received covered endoscophageal stent implantation were retrospectively analyzed.and divided them into three groups:only stents inserting, stents inserting combining radiation and stents inserting combining chemo.Cox regression analysis was performed to examine the following factors on survival time:age, gender, fistula, tumor length, tumor invasion depth, pathologic type, grade of cell differentiation, clinical tumor stage, postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Results:The technical success rate of stenting was 100%.There were significant improvement on the grade of swallowing function.in a week's later, the degree of dysphasia was reducd(P=0.003);restenosis occurred much higher frequently in the only stents inserting group than the other two group patients(P=0.001).single factor cox regression analysis showed that fistula, tumor length, tumor invasion depth, the grade of cell differentiation and clinical tumor stage had significant influence on prognostic(all P<0.05).Multiple Cox regression analysis showed that only grade of cell differentiation and clinical tumor stage were two independent influence factors on prognosis(P<0.05).Conclusion:Short-term effect of esophageal stent in the treatmenton advanced esophageal cancer was more significanter than long-term efficacy;Besides decreased recurrence of stenosis and improve the quality of the patients,postste-nting radiotherapy and chemotherapy does not provide additional benefits for survival.Grade of cell differentiation and clinical tumor stage are the major prognostic factors affecting the survival of patients with unresectable esophageal carcinoma after stenting.
