Objective:The objective of this study is to compare the clinical efficacy between massage combined with tai chi and simple oral methamphetamine treatments in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).The study will conduct a preliminary discussion on the differences between the two methods and its mechanisms. Methods:In this study,65 patients diagnosed with DPN were randomly divided into 32 experimental subjects and 33 control subjects. All patients continue to take original medication for controlling blood sugar.Subjects in the control group are to take oral amco(methamphetamine tablet),1 slice(0.5mg)a time, three times a day.Subjects in the experimental group: the patients are to receive oral methamphetamine tablets as in the control group, but with the addition of using self-massage techniques and practicing the 24-style tai chi.Massage limbs and acupuncture points,1 time/day,5times per week,24 style taijiquan exercise 4 times(45 ~ 60 min),1 time/day,5 times per week. The treatment period is two months. With fasting blood glucose, blood sugar2 hours after meal, glycosylated hemoglobin,10 g nylon examination,128 hz tuning fork test, temperature sense detection(warm feeling, cold, heat pain, cold pain)as observation indexes, recorded the test results before and after treatments, then used to set up the corresponding database, which is then compared and analyzed the differences between the two groups.Result:(1)Baseline data of the two groups before treatment did not have any statistically significant differences: gender, age, fasting plasma glucose(FPG),blood sugar 2hours after meal(2h FPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(Hb Alc),10 g nylon examination,128 hz tuning fork test, sensory function(temperature and pain sensitivity)exhibited no statistical significance(P>0.05)difference between the two groups.(2)Curative effect analysis:1)The comparison between groups:The experimental and control group exhibited statistically significant differences(P<0.05)with regards to FPG,2h FPG,Hb Alc level, results of the 10 g nylon test and temperature sensory tests. The 128 Hz test results between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).2)Group comparison:The experimental group subjects exhibited statistically significant differences(P<0.05)with regards FPG,2h FPG,Hb Alc level,10 g nylon test results,128 Hz test results, and temperature sensory test results before and after treatment sessions.The10 g nylon test, temperature sensory test results of the control group subjects exhibited statistically significant differences(P<0.05)before and after treatments, while the FPG?2h FPG?Hb A1 c and 128 Hz tuning results of the control group subjects did not show any statistically significant differences(P>0.05)before and after treatments.Conclusion:(1)Combining massage with tai chi can improve patient's blood sugar level, improve the sensitivity to touch, vibration and temperature, which in turn leads to improve the function of the peripheral nerve.(2)Combining massage with tai chi has a better effect in improving neural synesthesia,vibration/temperature sensory function compared to oral methamphetamine treatments.(3)Massage combined with tai chi as a non drug therapy with non-toxic side effects, safe and effective advantages, can be used as adjuvant therapy and conventional treatment methods in order to improve the clinical efficacy,it is worthy of popularization and application in the treatment of DPN.
