Purpose:To investigate changes in retinal vessal oxygen saturation in liver and kid ney deficiency type high myopia.Methods:Relative oxygen saturation was measured in retinal blood vessels of 18 p articiPants with liver and kidney deficiency type high myopia and compared t o a control group of 20 individuals with healthy people with Oxymap T1 reti nal oximeter.Retinal images were collected in the darkroom by the same tech nologist.The measurement was repeated 2-3 times for each patient,and take a n average.Each eye selected a top quality image to detect the oxygen saturati on of retinal vessel which located in 1.5-3.0 disc diameter from the optic dis c.Data acquisition and image analysis were completed by another technologist.Results:For the high myopia patients,retinal arteriole?SaO2?saturation?95.4±14.529%?and the difference in arterio-venous?Sa-vO2?saturation?30.35±17.041%?were lower than in normal individuals?97.79±9.223%,32.74±11.277%?,but did not reach statistical significance?all p>0.05?.The saturation were similar in venul es of the high myopia?65.04±10.565%?and normal individuals?65.05±9.439%?.Arterial difference in oxygen saturation did not differ significantly?all p>0.05?be tween the fundus quadrants of the two groups.The venular?SvO2?oxygen sa turation in the inferotemporal quadrant,High myopia group was higher than t he normal control group and the difference has statistical significance?p=0.014?.All the Sa-vO2 high myopia group was lower than the control group except th e superonasal quadrant.And the values in the inferotemporal quadrant has sta tistical significance?p=0.013?.Mean SaO2 was highest in the superonasal quadran t,followed by the inferonasal quadrant,the superotemporal quadrant and the inferotemporal quadrant.On the contrary,mean SvO2 was highest in the infe rotemporal quadrant,followed by the superotemporal quadrant,the inferonasal quadrant and the inferonasal quadrant.Conclusion:1?There is a trendency that the arterial oxygen saturation in the high myopia patients were lower than the normal individuals.2?The SvO2in the inferotemporal quadrant,High myopia group was hig her than the normal control group.3?In the correlation analysis,there did not find correlation between ox ygen saturation,age and diopter.
