Bacground:According to the situation,we step to the aging society.Osteoporosis is a prevalent and common disease,so,osteoporosis vertebral compression fracture(OVCF)becomes prevalent too.Patients suffer from persist pain, disability and kyphosis deformity after OVCF and have bad life quality.Percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)can release severe pain,But some think it result in new fracture at adjacent level. Objective:Analysising the linical data of patients with or without new adjacent vertebral fracture after PKP during the following-up period, discussing risk factors of new vertebral fracture after PKP to avoid these risk factors in the future,to improve clinical efficacy and life quality of patients. Methods:Analysising patients who underwent PKP in Teaching Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine during 2015 January and 2016 May,103 in total,26 males and 77 females respectively. There are 144 vertebrae,89 in lumbar and 55 in thoracic.76 patients had initial fracture with single vertebrae,17 with two vertebrae,6 with three vertebrae and 4 with four vertebrae. We followed-up all the patients and the longest and the shortest time is 23 months and 7months,respectively.We record related information such as gender, age, bone mineral density, restoration ritio of vertebral height and bone cement discal leakage. If the adjacent vertebrae fractured after PKP,the patient would be divided into group A(fracture group),otherwise,he/she would be divided into group B(non-fracture group). At last,we analysis the data. Results:After successful procedures and follow-up,There are 19 patients suffered from new adjacent vertebral fracture 25 vertebrae in total.Low bone mineral density, insufficient restoration of vertebral height and cement discal leakage relate to the new adjacent vertebral fracture after statistic analysis. Conclusions : 1.The new adjacent vertebral fracture after PKP have little relationship with age nor gender but bone mineral density, restoration ritio of vertebral height and bone cement discal leakage. 2.In the PKP procedure,we should restore the vertebrae to a proper height and avoid cement discal leakage,anti-osteoporosis therapy after the procedure is necessary.
