Objective:The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of KAFO on correction of moderate Genu Valgum in children with rickets. Methods:Collection of 64 children with pathologic genu valgum due to rickets in the Orthopaedic Clinic of Shanxi Province Children's Hospital from October 2015 to October 2017.A total of 128 knee joints were included, including 42 male patients and 84 knee patients.22 cases of female children,44 knees, after regular medical diagnosis and treatment, all children with rickets are in recovery phase, all children were measured their active septum spacing and line the double lower limb coronal forceps to measure the tibiofemoral angle(TFA),the children were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group was designed to make knee-ankle-foot orthosis braces(KAFO)according to the results of the examination and was worn on request, the control group did not interfere with any, every three months regular follow-up and remeasurement The distance between the active iliac crest and the coronal plane of the lower limbs was used to measure the tibiofemoral angle(TFA).The brace treatment group adjusted the orthopedic brace according to the results. The follow-up time was 1 year. The measurement data was analyzed with SPSS 22.0 software,p<0.05 difference was statistically significant. Results:At the initial visit, the distance between the brachial treatment group and the control group was 5.11cm(5.11±1.42cm),4.50cm(4.50±1.85cm),and the lower limbs were measured under the force line to measure the tibiofemoral angle(TFA).For 10.54 °(10.54 ± 1.86 °),9.95 °(9.95 ± 2.19 °),according to the measurement results to the bracing treatment group design and production of children with knee-ankle-foot orthosis braces(KAFO),every three months regularly Follow-up of the gait changes, active palatal distance and TFA changes were followed up.The gait was significantly improved after 3 months of correction in the children. After 3 months,6 months,9 months and 12 months after bracing,The active palatal distance between the children was 4.83cm(4.83±1.43cm),4.33cm(4.33±1.38cm),3.72cm(3.72±1.25cm),and 3.35cm(3.35±1.24cm),respectively.TFA)were 10.31°(10.31±1.65°),9.81°(9.81±1.51°),9.28°(9.28±1.49°),and 8.78°(8.78±1.34°),respectively;they were compared at the time of initial visit.p <0.05,the difference was statistically significant. In the last follow-up group, the active palatal distance and TFA measurement values were 4.14cm(4.14±1.77cm)and 9.37°(9.37±1.89°),respectively.Compared with the initial visit,p<0.05,the difference was statistically significant.Between the two groups, the final follow-up measurement,p <0.05,the difference was statistically significant.Conclusion:Knee-ankle-foot orthopedic bracing(KAFO)is a safe and effective treatment in the treatment of genu valgum with rickets.
