Objective:By analyzing the difference in the distribution of the genotype and alleles of rs222747 variants of the vanilloid receptor(TRPV1)in the diabetic group and the non-diabetic group,We would like to investigate the association between TRPV1 gene polymorphism and genetic susceptibility to type 2 diabetes. Methods:We genotyped 227 type 2 diabetic patients and 215 controls for the rs222747 variants of the TRPV1 by using the real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR,and analyzed the relationship between genotype as well as allele and type 2 diabetes mellitus, glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),and diabetes mellitus. Results:There was a significant difference in genotype distribution between type 2 diabetes mellitus group and control group(P = 0.04),and there was also a significant difference in the allele distribution between the two groups(P = 0.04).Therefore TRPV1 gene polymorphism is associated with genetic susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus. There was no significant difference between TRPV1 gene polymorphism and HbA1c(P=0.84)as well as diabetes-related complications(P>0.05).Conclusion:TRPV1 gene polymorphism is associated with genetic susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus, but more relevant research is still needed to confirm this conclusion.
